HS GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TOP 20

EMass girls’ basketball: With a returning core to score and defend, Foxborough is No. 1 in Globe’s Top 20 poll

MARK STOCKWELL FOR THE BOSTON GLOBE

Foxborough earns the top spot in the preseason Globe Top 20 girls’ basketball poll as a defending champion in Division 2 with the bulk of its core back. Bishop Feehan loses talent but brings back plenty of talent as well and enters as the favorite in Division 1 alongside Wachusett and Springfield Central.

Winchester, Wakefield, and Woburn could go toe-to-toe in the Middlesex League. Defending champions Andover and St. Mary’s are certainly in the mix again, but both have something to prove with standout seniors gone. Notre Dame (Hingham), Oliver Ames, and Norwood are a few other teams to watch. Quincy, Wellesley, Pentucket, Belmont, and Lincoln-Sudbury are the next five.
